Self storage facilities are spaces that can be rented out for personal use. Think of them as your remote storage room to store your items when you are not using them. You can opt to rent a unit for as short or as long as you want. Most companies allow even just one week of stay.

Storage facilities can be used both for personal and business use. Everyone needs extra space, especially with rent prices becoming steep.

Self-storage facilities help households in many ways.  Below are some common examples:

=> Offset the stress of moving

=> Provide more space at home

=> Organise a home renovation

=> Store a loved one’s belongings

=> Empty a dorm in the summer

Businesses get a secure off-site storage space for their files, inventory, and equipment.  Some common businesses that find value in storage units include:
=> Carpenters and contractors

=> Antique and book dealers

=> Retail shop owners

=> Sales and services professionals

The cost of storage depends on several factors such as location, duration of stay, size of storage unit, amenities included, and type of unit.

No. Only you will have access to your storage facility. We recommend that you buy your own industrial-strength padlock. There are also some storage units that allow for combination locks.

Make sure that you do not give out your passcode to anyone. Take note that our staff will not ask for a copy of your key/password/number combination.

Essentially, anything that you would store in your storage room can be stored in your storage facility. Here are some of the most common items that are placed inside our units:

=> Personal Memorabilia – souvenirs, baby clothes, old photo albums

=> Used Items – outgrown clothes, used furniture, old bedsheets, curtains

=> Electronics – used appliances e.g. microwave, oven, refrigerator

=> Seasonal Items

=> Canned Goods

=> Commercial Goods

=> Business Files

=> Business Inventory

=> Office Supplies

=> Vehicles

 While virtually everything can be stored, there are still some limitations. Here are some of the stuff that you cannot bring inside your unit without the permission of the manager.

  • => Hazardous
  • => Chemicals
  • => Weapons
  • => Perishables
  • => Plants
  • => Living
  • => Animals
  • => Yourself

Many facilities let you visit as much as you want. If you live near your storage site, you can usually come in every day to access your stuff.

There is usually no limit as to how many times you can go in and out of your storage unit in one day. There are even storage companies that offer 24/7 access.

You can opt to have insurance coverage for your items. For a small fee, you have the luxury of being assured that you will get compensated should anything happen to your items.

Yes, WhatStorage provides packing supplies such as boxes, packing tape, and bubble wrap. You can view our shop here.

While you can transport your items with your own personal car, we recommend hiring a Man with Van service for the safety of your items and, of course, your convenience. Items can easily get damaged in transit when you do it yourself. At the same time, you have to make multiple trips just to transport all of your items.
